It is summertime and the kids are enjoying their summer break. One of the most popular outdoor activities is, of course, basket ball. Some youth from Navajo Country came to Pine Ridge for a basket ball tournament. We took some pictures for you: |

Samuel still has not found a new sponsor. A lady from Norway, however, bought some clothes for him. He was really happy about it. |

| Anyway, Samuel is still looking for a sponsor who will support him on a regluar basis: Samuel |
FUND-RAISEROur “Rezkids” Darren and his sister Latoya with her baby girl (15 months old) are in a difficult situation right now. The house they have been living in together with other family members has been condemned and they had to move out. The family is scattered and Darren, Latoya and her daughter have been temporarily taken in by some relatives. They have to sleep on the floor, but it is better than having no place to stay at all. Latoya was offered one of the FEMA trailers for herself, her daughter and her brother. These trailers were originally designated for victims of hurricane Katrina, but never used. Latoya would have to pay for moving the trailer to Pine Ridge which is approx. $ 2,500. This is a lot of money but we still want to try raising this amount. As they say “every little helps” this could be accomplishes by a lot of people making a small contribution. Please send an Email if you want to help. |

DYP Board Member Charles Comes Killing passed away on April 22, 2010
|
| Spring is finally here. It was about time. After this long and cold winter we were all suffering from cabin fever - especially the kids. |
| Our Rezkid Justin discovered his green thumb. From his allowance he bought a used tiller and wants to set up a garden. He also received some support from Germany in the form of seeds and gardening tools. Happy gardening, Justin! |

Among the Christmas presents we gave out were some Legos that came from Germany. The kids really like them: |

| Due to donations from Germany and Austria we could buy shoes and clothes for some kids as well as a bunk bed for a young family. |
Our Rezkid Samuel still did not find a new sponsor. But this does not hold him off from playing his guitar... |

| Unfortunately also the sponsor of our Rezkids Atlanta and Richmond ceased to support them. Therefore we are presenting them once more on our website, hoping to find a new sponsor for them: Atlanta and Richmond |
| Update January 2010 |
The holidays are over. A winter storm created a nice mess right around Christmas and upset the travel plans of a lot of people. Justin, our "Rezkid of the Month" found a sponsor from Germany. He was also happy to receive Christmas presents from Germany and Sweden: |
|
That snowstorm almost got in the way of our Christmas Gift Drive. The bad weather was already moving in while we were distributing presents, food, household items and bags with nuts, fruit and candy to families on Pine Ridge Reservation. |
| Due to donations (money and in-kind) from some European countries and the US we improved the holidays for some famlies and fulfilled a long held wish for some of the kds. |

Who is wondering what we wrapped up, can see some examples here. Our old van was jam-packed when we were heading for Pine Ridge Reservation. |

| The families were happy about all the things we unloaded and the kids couldn't wait to unwrap their presents. |
