Charlie 9-09

Charlie September 2009

We are very shocked and sad about the unexpected passing of our Board Member Charles Comes Killing. Although Charlie was struggling with the effects of Diabetes for some years, his passing was unforeseen.

Charlie is leaving behind relatives, friends, and people he worked with in helping to make life better for his Oglala Lakota Oyate.

Charlie was an advocate for life long learning. He received two degrees and several certificates in different fields through postsecondary education. He also had vocational and artistic skills, such as traditional buffalo hide tanning and drum making.

All of these he put to work to help his people. He not only encouraged the youth to get education, he was a good example for them by always learning something new.
